This lot from Kenya’s Nyeri region brings together two powerhouse cooperatives: the Mutheka Kigwandi and Othaya Rukira factories. Together they represent thousands of smallholder farmers growing coffee in the rich, volcanic soil that gives Kenyan coffee its trademark sparkle and fruit intensity.
Expect a cup that’s lively and layered — think floral aromatics, blackcurrant, red plum, blackberry, and a touch of dark chocolate on the finish. It’s a flavour profile usually reserved for high-end specialty Kenyan lots, now decaffeinated using the Swiss Water Process, which relies only on water, time, and temperature to gently remove caffeine while protecting every nuance of flavour.
Roasted fresh here in Australia, this is decaf that tastes anything but.
